We had 120 people come along to see through the telescopes despite the heat and cloud. One family travelled 60km to be first in line to look at the Sun. Most were amazed they could look at the Sun at all yet alone through two different filters. Sadly though no sun spots could be seen the competing neutral density and H-alpha views kept us busy explaining many aspects of solar viewing to adults and children alike. The small prominence was a real bonus though we could only see it every now and then because of the cloud.
A wonderful start to the IYA 2009!
